G20 (2025)
Season 3 opens with a clear shift in tone. Hawkins looks brighter, louder, and more alive than ever. But beneath this colorful surface, a new and dangerous threat is already forming.
The episode begins far from Hawkins, inside a secret Russian facility.
Scientists are operating a massive machine, attempting to open a gate to another dimension. The experiment goes terribly wrong.
The machine malfunctions, killing several scientists instantly. Despite the disaster, the Russian commander orders the project to continue.
This moment makes one thing clear.
The Upside Down is no longer just an American problem.
Back in Hawkins, it is now the summer of 1985.
The town has transformed with the opening of Starcourt Mall, a massive and flashy shopping center that draws everyone in.
The mall represents change: new businesses, new culture, and the slow disappearance of small-town life.
The kids are no longer just kids.
Mike and Eleven are openly dating and spend nearly all their time together. Lucas and Max are also a couple.
Dustin returns from science camp, excited to reconnect, only to realize he has been left behind.
Friendships are shifting, and not everyone is comfortable with it.
Chief Hopper is struggling the most.
He is deeply uncomfortable with Eleven growing up and furious about her relationship with Mike.
His attempts to assert authority only create more tension.
Hopper confronts Mike privately and intimidates him into staying away from Eleven.
When Eleven notices Mike acting strangely, it creates confusion, hurt, and emotional distance between them.
This conflict introduces a new kind of danger.
Emotional damage begins to replace physical monsters.
Dustin builds a massive radio antenna on a nearby hill, hoping to contact his long-distance girlfriend, Suzie.
While waiting for her response, he accidentally intercepts a strange transmission.
The message is in Russian.
Dustin doesn’t understand it, but he knows it matters.
He brings the recording to Steve Harrington, who is now working at an ice cream shop inside Starcourt Mall.
Steve and his coworker Robin unexpectedly become part of the mystery.
The mall, which appears fun and harmless, may be hiding something far darker beneath it.
A darker storyline unfolds quietly outside Hawkins.
Rats begin behaving strangely. They gather in large numbers, twitch violently, and suddenly explode into organic sludge.
At the same time, Billy Hargrove experiences a terrifying encounter.
His car breaks down near the old steel mill, where he is dragged inside by an unseen force.
Billy does not escape unchanged.
Episode 1 establishes multiple threats that will soon collide.
This episode is about transition.
Childhood is fading. Relationships are shifting. And the danger has adapted to a new era.
The monsters are no longer just hiding in the dark.
They are hiding in plain sight.
By the end of “Suzie, Do You Copy?”, Hawkins feels exciting and alive.
But beneath the neon lights and summer romance, something old and evil is waking up again.
And this time, it’s smarter.
