G20 (2025)
Episode 2 deepens the unease introduced in the premiere. What first looked like trauma now feels like a growing infection, spreading quietly through Hawkins.
It’s Halloween night, and the kids are out trick-or-treating dressed as the Ghostbusters.
On the surface, it feels like a return to childhood fun. But the mood is different now.
Mike is distracted and distant, still grieving Eleven. Dustin tries to keep things light. Lucas is excited about Max, the new girl.
Will, however, is clearly uneasy.
The past year hasn’t left him.
While walking through town, Will suddenly experiences another vision. This time it’s stronger and longer.
Hawkins transforms into the Upside Down right in front of him. The massive shadow creature from Episode 1 looms in the sky, spreading its tendrils across the town.
When Will snaps back to reality, he’s shaken but still conscious.
He realizes something important: these aren’t hallucinations.
He’s not disappearing into another world.
The world is coming to him.
This suggests that the Upside Down is no longer separate from Will. It’s somehow attached to him.
At the cabin, Hopper tries to give Eleven a sense of normal life. He celebrates Halloween with her, leaving candy and a carved pumpkin.
But the gesture backfires. Eleven is angry and hurt. She wants to see Mike. She wants to leave.
Hopper refuses.
Their argument turns emotional. Eleven feels imprisoned, while Hopper believes isolation is the only way to keep her safe.
This conflict reveals a painful truth: Hopper’s protection comes at the cost of Eleven’s freedom.
Both are right. And both are suffering.
Meanwhile, Dustin notices something disturbing in his trash can.
A strange, slug-like creature is alive and moving.
Instead of being afraid, Dustin becomes curious. He secretly keeps it as a pet, naming it Dart.
Unknowingly, Dustin has found something connected to the Upside Down— possibly the same kind of creature Will coughed up at the end of Season 1.
This small decision will have serious consequences.
Terrified by Will’s worsening condition, Joyce takes him to Hawkins Lab.
The doctors run tests and insist that Will is physically fine. But Joyce knows better.
She demands answers.
The lab agrees to observe Will, pretending to help while clearly hiding the full truth.
They know more than they’re saying, and Joyce senses it.
At school, Max continues to integrate into the group.
Lucas grows closer to her, while Mike keeps his distance.
Mike’s resistance isn’t about Max herself— it’s about loyalty to Eleven and fear of moving on.
The group dynamic is changing, and not everyone is ready for it.
Episode 2 confirms that the threat has evolved.
This episode shifts the story from aftermath to escalation.
The danger isn’t sudden or explosive. It’s slow, creeping, and deeply personal.
By the end of Trick or Treat, Freak, one thing becomes clear.
The Upside Down is no longer a place you fall into.
It’s something that follows you home.
