The narrative centers on Ahn Jung-geun, portrayed by Hyun Bin, a devoted Korean independence activist leading a small covert group of freedom fighters. Their daring and dangerous mission is to travel to the Russian-controlled city of Harbin, China, with the goal of assassinating Itō Hirobumi, Japan’s first Prime Minister and the Resident-General of Korea.
As the group meticulously plans the assassination, they must survive relentless espionage, brutal weather conditions, and extreme isolation. The film presents a gripping chronicle of moral dilemmas, personal sacrifice, and the burning desire for freedom that defines a nation’s struggle against oppression.
