G20 (2025)
How to Train Your Dragon (2025), directed by Dean DeBlois and starring Mason Thames as Hiccup and Gerard Butler reprising Stoick, is a live-action remake of DreamWorks’ beloved 2010 animated classic. While faithfully retelling the original, it also deepens character bonds and brings the world of Berk to vivid, realistic life.
Set in a Viking village torn by fear of dragons, young Hiccup—awkward yet inventive—captures a rare Night Fury instead of killing it. Naming him Toothless, Hiccup forms an unlikely friendship that challenges his culture’s beliefs . Through training and understanding, he gains the respect of peers like Astrid, Fishlegs, and Gobber.
Hiccup's inventions and empathy toward dragons clash with Viking tradition. Conflict escalates when Toothless is captured, and Hiccup inadvertently reveals the dragon nest's location to his father, Stoick, who disowns him.
In the climactic battle against the Red Death dragon, Hiccup is injured and loses a leg, which is replaced by a prosthetic fin like Toothless’s tail. His bravery leads to reconciliation with Stoick and a new era: Vikings and dragons coexist peacefully in harmony.
The live-action remake is visually stunning and emotionally faithful. While critics call it overly faithful and caution it may feel redundant, most agree that it retains the heart of the original while bringing Hiccup and Toothless to life with sincere craftsmanship.
